OUR COMPANY HISTORY began over 50 years ago when our Founding Father, Edwin A. Sherwin opened his own Public Accounting practice in the Thomes Building in Downtown Buffalo. Ed grew that business into a full service Certified Public Accounting operation, providing tax and accounting services to hundreds – probably 1,000s – of area individuals and businesses over the next 44 years.

Ed was a pilot of his own small aircraft, and an avid sportsman and hunter. Most of his clients thought of him not only as their accountant, but as their very good friend. The fact that many of his clients, employees and associates chose to stick with Ed for multiple decades is a testament to his integrity, his dedication to his business operations, and to his life in the community. In continuous operation at the same location for our first 44 years, Ed succeeded with his plans not to retire, but  to spend all of his days in the profession he loved.

It is on that solid foundation that we continue to operate today. Ed’s daughter, Paula Sherwin, now sits at the helm. Following in her father’s footsteps by taking on the same profession as her dad, taking over the business as he intended, Paula is also a CPA with over 35 years of accounting experience. Still in Downtown Buffalo (but without the steep stairway), the Sherwin legacy goes on.

When you compare the technology of accounting today to what it was more than 50 years ago, a lot has changed. 10-key adding machines, reams of ledger paper and #2 pencils have been replaced with hardware, software, and gigabytes of data. What hasn’t changed is our dedication to providing our clients the same high degree of professional tax & accounting services we always have. Although we really miss Ed, his principles of doing the job accurately, doing it well, and treating his clients right will continue to remain at the core of our mission.
